Kunstwerke von präkolumbianischer Zeit bis in unsere Tage zeugen von der hohen technischen und ästhetischen Qualität eines Handwerks, das auch heute noch von Generation zu Generation weiter vermittelt wird. Schmuck, Haus- und Kirchengerät bilden auch in Europa die Hauptaufgaben der Gold- und Silberschmiede. Eine spezifisch argentinische Auftraggeberschaft war und ist die existenziell wichtige Viehwirtschaft. Gauchos und Estanzieros bestellten sich kostbares Zaumzeug sowie prunkvolle Stichwaffen und Gürtel. Magdalena Faillace, EJERCICIO PLASTICO. 2014 Todo en esta historia es una gran novela signada por pasión y controversias que nos resume Faillace. Esta singular obra fue encomendada a David Alfaro Siqueiros, en 1933, por Natalio Botana, director d…el diario Crítica, para su quinta Los Granados. Botana, apasionado por el arte y, seguramente, atraído por la relación que el artista tenía con la sociedad de su época, lo convocó para realizar en forma privada un mural, que escapaba totalmente al tono de denuncia política que caracterizaba la obra del muralista mexicano. El lugar para llevarla a cabo era una cava de paredes cóncavas -la sala de póker- en la que Siqueiros, con la asistencia de los artistas argentinos Berni, Spilimbergo, Castagnino y el uruguayo Lázaro, pintó voluptuosas y sensuales figuras femeninas; entre ellas la de la modelo Blanca Luz Brum con la que Siqueiros tuvo un romance. Este logro es un nuevo triunfo de la cultura, ese entramado de relaciones que permite vínculos profundos entre los pueblos para lograr buenos acuerdos políticos y comerciales. La cultura tiene que ver con los valores y el imaginario colectivo de los pueblos. Este mural reúne el alma de Siqueiros y las de los maestros que lo acompañaron en la creación de esta obra maestra del patrimonio cultural latinoamericano." After a brief introduction that explores the influence that architects and engineers of German decent wielded on the Rio de la Plata region, the largest section of the present edition is dedicated to architect Guillermo "Willi" Ludewig (b. Brandenburg 1902, immigrated to Argentina in 1935 - d. Argentina 1963). In this context, the architectural work of Ludewig played an outstanding role. Ludewig was one of the most important protagonists of the spread of Modernist Rationalim, specially in the Brandenburg region. Elements of the "Neues Bauen" (New Architecture) movement can be recognized in his work left in Argentina: the house in San Isidro for Eduardo Madero, the Hospital Churruca, several residences in Bariloche, Mar del Plata and Río Negro and the office building ACA (Automóvil Club Argentino ) in Buenos Aires. Tomando como eje la producción gráfica en diálogo con otras prácticas artísticas, la exposición se organiza en una serie cronológica de cinco núcleos y cuatro salas monográficas dedicadas a Antonio Berni, León Ferrari, Carlos Alonso y Juan Carlos Romero. La gran tradición artística y literaria occidental sostuvo una vocación fundamental a lo largo de la modernidad: la de cambiar el mundo, la de mejorar a los hombres, la de cuestionar los poderes instituidos y luchar por una sociedad más libre y más justa. Siguiendo el hilo de esa aspiración crítica en el arte argentino, esta publicación aborda un conjunto de obras que recorre más de un siglo, desde finales del XIX hasta los primeros años del XXI, vinculadas a las primeras reivindicaciones obreras, la propaganda antifascista y antibélica en los años 30 y 40, el espíritu revolucionario de los años 60 y 70, la denuncia del genocidio y la lucha por los derechos humanos desde los años 80, la creatividad puesta al servicio de la supervivencia y la reinvención de la vida cotidiana tras la espectacular crisis económica del año 2001.
