Condition: Very Good. Woodcut printer's mark of man tilling the field + diagram on page 25. Octavo contemporary laced-through vellum with inked title to spine and yapp fore-edges (a few ink marks but vellum sound & clean). Colated complete [32]pp (title & prelims) + 768pp + [48]pp (index & errata). Circular stamp of St Ignatius College Amsterdam with release overprint on titlepage and neat early signature "Munckeri 1678". A few other annotations or underlinings, about 20 leaves near middle (pp405-439) have tan staining to top third of page not affecting legibility, so maybe present before book assembled for binding. Main notes are by Dutch humanist scholar Pontanus - his first published work. Text in Latin with some Greek. *Macrobius' Commentaries on Cicero's Dream of Scipio featured astral projection and foretelling the future, and his Saturnalia celebrate Roman festivals to honour the god Saturn. A nice tight copy with no worming, no loose pages or tears. 1 volume. Hardcover.

Soter, 1527 mense Augusto, in 8; ottima leg. m. pelle (fine '600) con tass. rosso e fregi o. al dorso (piccoli tarletti); 24 cc.n.n. + pp. 464 (ultima b.). Frontesp. a goccia con la piccola marca tipogr. al centro; numerosi eleganti capolettera figurati (bambini) su fondo nero; qualche schema astronomico n.t. e il noto mappamondo (2/3 di pag.) a c. 110. ESEMPLARE IN COMPLESSO MOLTO BUONO ED A LARGHI MARGINI (solo una evidente traccia di tarlo che non tocca il testo al margine bianco inf. delle ultrime 40 pp. e qualche fioritura o lieviss. alone sparso). Numerose sottolineature e postille antiche. Edizione molto rara (nessuna copia censita in ICCU) di questa notissima opera più volte ristampata a partire dalla prima del 1472 (Venezia). Le 4 pagine successive al frontesp. contengono una lunga dedica al lettore (in latino), un epigramma e un ode saffica (in greco) di ARNOLD Vesaliensis " savant théologien allemand, mort en 1534" (Hoefer; 3; 323).".
