There is a 2 1/2 inch piece of the board missing from the front top corner, with additional chipping and pieces of board missing along the entire foredge of the book. Also, there is a piece missing from the top back edge across the entire width about two inches down. Spine has been reinforced with cloth tape which is visible from the inside at the gutter edge. General, overall scratches across the boards. Up to pg. 33, there are pieces of the pages (not effecting the text) missing at the top front corner. Light foxing to the endpages. Marbled edges faded and dust-stained.

Internally, contemporary previous owner's inscription, relatively moderate foxing and tanning throughout, a half dozen or so dogears, otherwise tight, clean, relatively crisp and unmarked. Nice Victorian miscellany, covering science, morality, religion, history, art, literature, and even the Laurel Hill Cemetery of Philadelphia and root beer!
