Cloth. Condition: Very good. Dust Jacket Condition: very good. First edition of MacArthur: His Rendezvous with History by Major General Courtney Whitney, signed by Gen. Douglas MacArthur, Jean MacArthur, Courtney Whitney, their son, Arthur MacArthur IV, and nanny, "Ah Cheu." (illustrator). First Edition, First Printing. Octavo, xi, [1], 547pp, xiii. Rust orange cloth, spine in blue, title stamped in gilt on spine and blind stamped on cover. Top edge dyed red. Stated "First Edition" on copyright page. Complete with three maps. Light wear to cloth boards, foxing to endpapers. In the publisher's first state dust jacket, $6.75 retail price on front flap, light sunning to spine, shallow chipping and wear along edges, an overall very good example. A unique collection of signatures including General Douglas MacArthur, Jean MacArthur, Major Gen. Courtney Whitney, Arthur MacArthur IV (MacArthur's son), and their beloved Chinese nanny, Loh Chui ("Ah Cheu"). Ah Cheu, whose legal name was Loh Chui, was the Cantonese nanny who helped raise Arthur MacArthur IV (MacArthur's only child), and accompanied them during the March 1942 escape from Corregidor-a decision he later defended on the grounds that she had been with his son "since Arthur's birth" and would likely have been killed if left behind. She is also dramatized on screen as "Ah Cheu" in the 1977 film MacArthur. Signed.
