Paperback. Condition: New. Print on Demand. This book commemorates the 150th anniversary of the chartering of the town of Hartford, Vermont, a pivotal moment in the history of the region. Paperback. Condition: New. Print on Demand. This book opens in a lively London club where, amidst discussions of science and art, a mysterious case of trance is raised. A young man has been found in a suspended state on a train, and when roused, claims to have no memory of his journey or of a strange, older man he traveled with.… Dr. Lefevre, a renowned physician, is drawn into the case and employs unique scientific methods to restore the patient. As the young man regains consciousness, a peculiar card is found in his possession, leading him and Dr. Lefevre to the famed St. James Hospital. The author artfully constructs a tale that engages with themes of illusion and hallucination, the interplay of science and imagination, and the enigmatic powers of the human mind. Throughout the story, the author explores the complex relationship between reality and perception, revealing the profound psychological and physiological influences that shape our experiences of the world. By weaving together elements of the paranormal, the power of suggestion, and the pursuit of knowledge, this book presents a profound exploration of the complexities of human consciousness and the boundaries of human understanding. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.
