Blue cloth binding, gilt lettering to front boards and spines. A little marking and some scuffing to binding but quite clean and colouring still quite vivid, though some discolouration and a bit more marking to spines. Signs of wear, rubbing at edges and on hinges. A little tearing to the heads and tails of spines. Sightly bumped and torn corners. Some slackness to bindings, cracking to front inner hinges of volumes 1, 2 and 5, the odd crack elsewhere. A loose colour plate in volume 2 between pages 722-723. Book contents appear to be otherwise reasonably firm. Page edges slightly browned, marked and scuffed, but generally quite clean. Upper page edges gilt, with some scuffing and marking but still quite visible.
