BENEDIT, Luis Fernando, MAROTTA, Vicente Lucas. Barbazul. Buenos Aires, Museo de Arte Moderno de la ciudad de Buenos Aires, 1966. Soft covers with staples, 31,5x21 cm. [4 h.]. Illustrated exhibition catalogue. Text by Hugo Parpagnoli. Exhibition music composed by Miguel Angel Rondano. In 1966, Benedit presented the immersive installation "Barbazul" with Vicente Marotta at the Museo de Arte Moderno de Buenos Aires. He was part of a generation of radical artists in Buenos Aires, such as Lea Lublin, Marta Minujín, and Rubén Santantonín, who created immersive environments that aimed to more actively engage with their viewers. Working with Marotta, Benedit constructed a labyrinthine corridor, filling the installation with wall-mounted works that combined metal cutouts, sculptures, and the paintings to simulate the abstracted depictions of the eviscerated victims from the classic European folktale "Blue Beard" by Charles Perrault, about a serial killer who marries and murders a succession of women.
