The facade combines elements of Neo-Baroque and Art Nouveau to visually harmonize with the Zwinger Palace opposite. The title on the spine reads: "Album." All edges gilt. The pages were originally blank. The compiler cut out a total of 49 reproductions of wood engravings from four stories contained in a children's picture book published in Munich by Braun & Schneider (Munchener Bilderbucher, No. 25) and pasted them on the recto pages. The four stories are: (1) Die Vergebliche Rattenjagd (The Frustrated Rat Chase); (2) Die Fliege (the Fly); (3) Die Rutschpartie (The Coasting Party); and (4) Regelbahnstudien auf dem Lande (Nine-pin Alley Studies in the Country). The plates in (3) and (4) have captions in German; someone has written English translations in red ink under each plate. The plates in (1) and (2) have no captions.
