First Edition
Wrappers. Condition: Very Good. Bolles, Enoch (cover) (illustrator). First Edition. New York: Dell Publishing Co., 1937. First Edition. The February, 1937 issue of Film Fun magazine. Cover by Enoch Bolles. Interior photography. Quarto, wraps, 80 pp. Light soil to covers and one chip at top of cover, 1" x 3/4", affecting also first text page (see scan), but very little else to remark about in grading this nicely preserved copy. Spine 99% complete. Very Good. A classic issue of a classic thirties pulp magazine, with a classic cover by the artist probably most seminal in the evolution of girlie and pin-up art, Enoch Bolles. Title of this cover: "Nice to Have a Drag With", and it's seen on Bolles sites throughout the web. This is where it first appeared. Contents include a wide variety of promotional photographs of Hollywood stars of the era, as well as of lesser lights. Short articles, humor, quotations from the stars. Certainly a piece of Hollywood history, and, of course, of girlie pulp history. - G.
