Rústica. Condition: En buen estado. Portada, 256 p., 4 h.

Paperback. Condition: New. Print on Demand. This book is an extensive collection of satirical epigrams composed in the 17th and 18th centuries in the form of over 150 witty, often sardonic poems that take aim at the follies, vanities, and hypocrisies of Spanish society. The author skewers politicians, clergy, academics, doctors, lawyers, and lovers, among others, with barbs that are as sharp today as when they were first written. The epigrams are arranged in no particular order and are classified according to subject matter which includes politics, religion, morality, literature, and love. The book also includes several epigrams written in praise of famous people and events, such as the victories of the Spanish armies in the War of the Spanish Succession. The epigrams offer a fascinating glimpse into the social and cultural values of 17th- and 18th-century Spain. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.…
