First Edition
Hardcover. 1st Edition. Gray and black boards depicting a crossword. Black lettering along the spine and on the front board. FIRST EDITION. Only puzzle No. 1 "The Liberty Bell" has been completed in pencil. Page 111 shows a broken red seal which reveals the answers starting on page 112. The lower corners are bumped, otherwise the book is in extremely good condition. The DJ shows the same design as the boards and has a half-inch tear, chips and endwear to the spine. Mr. Layng's " puzzles will be noted, not only for their brilliancy and smoothness, but also for their unusually artistic designs - a welcome relief from the conventional solid block idea, which was the first development of the primitive acrostic." 121 pages.
