Orig.-Pp. Condition: Sehr gut. 108 Seiten, zahlr. Abb. Sehr gutes Exemplar, Einband minimal bestossen. - Very good copy, cover with a minimal bump. / Language: English and French. / Art & Language, the shadowy collaborative author of the works in this show, has in its own words been thought of as an esoteric and disturbing monas…tic brotherhood. The collective, in the manner of a true commune, does not distinguish individual contributions, sharing the name of a journal founded in 1968 to promote research into the relationship between visual image and written text. Today Art & Language officially consists of two artists Michael Baldwin and Mel Ramsden and a critic and art historian, Charles Harrison, with whom they collaborate on literary and academic projects. This remaining gang of three continue to create works and theoretical texts that merge language with art using analytical tools drawn from a broad philosophical base as well as from language theory. What they do not do is illustrate bits and pieces of Wittgenstein's philosophy a practice that characterises some forms of conceptual art. / Contents: L'art après la fin de l'art -- Barbara Rose -- Pas tout à fait la pose de Belacqua - Conversation à trois voix -- Art & Language -- Liste des ¼uvres/List of works -- Drawing for Six and Four Suprematist Squares, 1965 -- Drawing for Untitled Painting (Mirror), 1965 -- Art in America, 1966 -- Layout drawing for Hot-Cold book (1), 1967 -- Layout drawing for 'Hot-Cold book (II), 1967 -- Drawing for Map to Not Indicate, 1967 -- Map, 1967-1991 -- Elements of an Incomplete Map, 1968 -- 100% Abstract, 1968 -- Study for Index 003 (Bxal), 1973 -- Study for Projekt 74 (Index), 1974 -- Study for 'Projekt 74 (II), 1974 -- Dialectical Materialism, 1975 -- Study for Poster for Kangaroo LP, 1981, 1981 -- Study after Gustave Courbet's Origine du Monde, 1992 -- Now they May be, 1992 -- Index 17, 2002 -- Now They Are Elegant Again, 2002 -- Drawing for Index 18, 2002 -- There were Sighs Trapped by Liars (1), 2003 -- Songs for Sighs Trapped by Liars (1), 2003 -- There Were Sighs Trapped by Liars (II-V), 2003 -- One of these Strings is Exhausted XVI, 2004 -- Songs Held in Offices, 2006 -- Sighs Trapped by Liars (Sandi and Eliza), 2007 -- Portraits of John Wayne, Jimmy Carter, Ad Reinhardt and Wile E.
