Joseph Gregor Lang, nato nel 1755 e deceduto nel 1834, è stato un notevole geografo, cartografo e esploratore tedesco del XVIII e XIX secolo, conosciuto principalmente per i suoi contributi alla geografia fluviale e alle esplorazioni sul fiume Reno. Nato a Monaco di Baviera, Lang dimostrò fin da giovane un vivo interesse per la geografia e l'esplorazione. Studiò presso l'Università di Monaco, dove approfondì la sua conoscenza delle scienze naturali e acquisì competenze cartografiche.
