Spines have rubbing wear to raised surfaces and extremities, with a few scattered small stains. Boards have bumping to fore corners, shelfwear to edges, peeling and chipping to leather near edges, and light chipping to paper. Text blocks have gilded top edges and marbled endpapers; foxing and age-toning to edges, ex-libris bookplates to front pastedowns, penciling to front flyleaves, stress marks to some corners, and foxing throughout; volume 1 has penciling to title page, splitting to some gutters, and some signatures uncut.
