This set retains rare original publisher ephemera, including the Oxford University Press review slip dated 14th September 1967, an Asia Major compliments card, and a Harper & Row printed matter announcement addressed to E. M. Mendelson at 21 Kidderpore Gardens, London NW3. Mendelson is the birth name of poet and anthropologist Nathaniel Tarn, adding meaningful provenance and research interest. Both volumes are first printings, printed by The Maple Press Company, with Library of Congress card number 66-17703. Jackets feature the striking photographic design shown. Volume Two jacket shows some edge wear and light chipping at the head of spine. Bindings are sound and interiors appear clean.
