Kloa Plantation Days - Talk Story In the summer of 1985, The Hawaiian Sugar Planters' Association had constructed a monument to Sugar in Kloa, Kaua'i and made plans to hold a Sesquicentennial parade and luau to celebrate 150 years of Hawai'i being the Sugar Islands. It was later decided that a book would be commissioned to tell visitors and local descendants why we celebrate. It would be called Kloa Plantation Days, A Talk Story. The story would be told by locals and immigrants who came to work on the plantations.
