A spectacular stage of 17th-century machines, where art and invention steal the show. The Theatrum Machinarum Novum belongs to the distinguished tradition of illustrated machine book that flourished across Europe from the mid-sixteenth century through the Baroque period. That tradition was initiated by Ramelli's Le diverse et artificiose machine (1588) and continued by Besson, de Caus, and Zonca before reaching its German apogee in this work. The book presents Mechanica not merely as artisanal practice but as a noble art grounded in geometry and physics, balancing speculative thought with practical application. The result is a publication that belongs equally to the history of mechanics, architecture, and visual knowledge: a Baroque machine theater in which technical instruction, engraved invention, and intellectual self-definition converge with unusual coherence. Gestochene Ansicht von Korbach aus dem 1626 erschienenen "Thesaurus Philopoliticus" von Daniel Meisner (1585-1625) und Eberhard Kieser (1583-1631). - Die Ansicht zeigt links den Eisenberg und in der Bildmitte Korbach von Südosten ("Corbach Com[itatus]… Walceck"). Im Vordergrund ein Jüngling mit erlegtem Hasen, rechts eine Dame. Darunter: "Ich merck waß dein Anliegen ist, niemals dir ahn der Red gebrist" und "Sey frisch, thu wegk das Hasenhertz. Kein Cuyon taug zu Venus Schertz". Oberhalb der Vedute das gedruckte emblematische Motto: "Ein verzagter gibt kein Buhler". - Gering angerändert; gering fleckig; rückseitig mit Montagespuren; gutes Exemplar.

In der rechten oberen Ecke das Wappen, oben links zwei bewaffnete, miteinander kämpfende Hände. Unter dem Bild eine Zeile lateinische…r und 4 Zeilen deutscher Text: Des feindts Gemüht ist zu vollbringen, Mit feur und Schwerlt verderben und zwingen. Dieser thut schonen der Gestaltn Weder Groß, klein, noch jungn und Alten. - Kieser als Stecher und Meißner, der für den Text verantwortlich war, gaben um 1620 das politsche Schatzkästlein heraus.
