Diese Arbeit wurde in Form einer quantitativen Untersuchung durchgeführt. Die Ergebnisse zeigen, dass künftige Mathematiklehrer die grundlegenden Konzepte der Statistik nicht beherrschen. Sie verfügen nicht über die instrumentellen Kenntnisse der Statistik, die für ihre Anwendung in der Praxis erforderlich sind, was sich in den festgestellten konzeptionellen Fehlern widerspiegelt: fehlerhafte Anwendung von Eigenschaften, Nichtbeachtung der Wirkung eines Ausreißers bei der Berechnung des Mittelwerts, Unfähigkeit zu erkennen, wann ein Wert in einem bestimmten Kontext ein Ausreißer ist, Nichtbeherrschung der Interpretation eines Diagramms und seiner Verbindung mit dem Konzept des arithmetischen Mittels. Trotzdem haben sie eine positive Einstellung zur Statistik.

No disponen de un conocimiento instrumental de la estadística necesario para su aplicación en la práctica, reflejado en los errores conceptuales identificados: Aplicación incorrecta de las propiedades, no aprecian el efecto de un valor atípico en el cálculo de la media, no son capaces de discernir cuando un valor es atípico para un contexto dado, no hay dominio en la interpretación de una gráfica y su asociación con el concepto de media aritmética.
