Cloth. Condition: Good. No Jacket. This copy is not heavily worn but the cover, especially the spine and edges, is heavily spotted from insect damage. The cover could be recolored but there is some loss to the spine lettering. Internally a Very Good solid copy. There are few small tears in the margins and a few blue pencil marks in the text. Many photos of buildings and people. There are no pages 2-10 but this quirk in numbering appears in all copies.

Paperback. Condition: New. Print on Demand. This book is a compilation of various congressional debates, speeches, and other documents from the early 20th century surrounding the debates regarding the Panama Canal tolls and the Hay-Pauncefote treaty. The bulk of the arguments revolve around whether the US was legally entitled to exempt tolls for American ships traveling through the canal and, if not, whether the issue should be sent to arbitration. The author does not provide any modern commentary and simply presents these primary source materials to the reader so that they can form their own opinions. This work is a valuable resource for scholars and historians seeking to better understand the political and legal debates over the Panama Canal's opening. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.
