Die deutsche Künstlerin Jorinde Voigt ging ein Jahr lang durch einige der größten botanischen Gärten der Welt (darunter Sydney, Köln, Mexiko-Stadt und Berlin) und fotografierte Pflanzen, die ihr gefielen. Sie ordnete jeder Pflanze Farben auf der Pantone-Skala zu und übertrug diese Farben dann mithilfe eines Computeralgorithmus proportional auf eine Reihe von 12 Fuß langen Stäben. Als alle Stäbe für jeden Garten fertig waren, wurden sie zusammengebaut und bildeten so etwas wie einen feinen Strichcode für jeden einzelnen Garten.
