The book combines full-color photography shot on location with narrat…ive text accessible to young readers, blending educational travel themes with familiar Muppet characters. Notable for its authentic documentary-style images of China in the early 1980s, shortly after the country reopened to broader Western engagement, the book also includes vertical Chinese characters on the title page and dust jacket, enhancing its cross-cultural presentation. Book is Very Good. Interior pages are clean and unmarked with the exception of an Ex-Libris name on inside front board. No other writing or staining observed. Binding remains firm, though there is visible wear at the spine head and tail and rubbing to edges and corners, particularly along the lower board. Boards show surface wear consistent with use; no dust jacket was issued or present with this copy. Overall a solid, complete hardcover example. First edition, first printing, published 1983. No number line present, as typical for Random House children's titles of this period. Original publisher's photographic boards; not a later reprint or book club edition. Jon Stone was a foundational creative force behind Sesame Street, instrumental in shaping its educational approach and global outreach. Photographer Victor DiNapoli documented the China production on location, contributing a rare visual record of early U.S.-China cultural exchange through children's media.
