It is addressed to 'My dear Lord' and it is dated January 30th, but with no year indicated though probably around 1830. A tear to upper edges of paper and a pinhole under 'My dear'.

Reads 'May God support him in the Time of his great Calamity! | I shall be infinitely obliged by your allowing me to hope that thro' you I may occasionally hear of his Health | I remain, Dear Sir, | Yr obliged Servant | Eldon'.

Condition: Good. - An autograph document penned in an unknown hand on 2-1/2 inch high by 7-1/2 inch wide parchment paper with clipped corners. A bankruptcy document dated "21st November 1801" reading "Let a Commission issue as prayed and be directed to Francis Maude Thomas Clifton Esquires Edward Brooke Thomas Edward Upton and Joseph Hood Gentlemen", signed "Eldon" by the British Barrister and Lord High Chancellor of Great Britain. Once likely mounted in an album, there is some soiling with offsetting to the edges of the document from the glue with adhered to the verso. Good. The British barrister and politician John Scott, 1st Earl of Eldon (1751-1838) served as Lord High Chancellor of Great Britain between 1801 and 1806.

John Scott, 1st Earl of Eldon, 1751-1838 was a British barrister and politician. He served as Lord High Chancellor of Great Britain between 1801 and 1806 and again between 1807 and 1827. Provenance: From the family of autograph collector Emily Mary Rose Lee (1869-1949), wife of Colonel William Crawford Walton (1864-1937). Emily was the daughter of William Lee, Professor of Ecclesiastical History at the University of Glasgow from 1874 to 1886, and granddaughter of John Lee (1779-1859), Principal of Edinburgh University from 1840 to 1859.
