Paperback. Condition: New. Print on Demand. This book delves into the lives of alumni who studied at Cambridge University from the earliest times to the 1750s. By examining the biographies of thousands of former students, the author reconstructs and illuminates a lost world of scholarship and social experience. The book draws on a wide range of sources, including university records, parish registers, and personal correspondence, to provide a rich and detailed account of the lives and careers of these alumni. It sheds light on the social and intellectual life of the university, the role of Cambridge in English society, and the ways in which the university shaped the lives of its graduates. Through its examination of individual lives, the book offers a unique perspective on the history of Cambridge University and the broader social and intellectual history of England. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.
