He began making saddles in 1880 in Roma in Queensland after a career as a stockman in Western Queensland.…He designed his saddles in collaboration with ringers and stockmen of the Brigalow country and his saddle styles have survived to the present day, with clones and "homages" being offered by the likes of RM Williams and others. In 1926, Wieneke was operating in collaboration with John Brush in Sydney, making saddles and shipping them all over the country. John Brush was forever receiving telegrams beginning with the words "another Wieneke wanted.", so it seemed appropriate to use that as the title of the John Brush saddlery catalogue. This book is a reprint of the 1926 Wieneke saddle catalogue. It's a window into the history of one of Australia's and even the world's most iconic working saddles. This item is printed on demand.
