Der aus Messing gefertigte Meridiankreis trägt die Breitengrade. Ein hohles Achteck aus Holz trägt den Kreis des Horizonts, der auf Papier gedruckt und aufgeklebt wurde. Sie ist in deutscher Sprache mit der Amplitude, der Windrichtung, den Tagen und Monaten des Jahres sowie den Namen und Symbolen des Zodiacs versehen. Der Globus ist deutschsprachig; es gibt keine nationalen Grenzen. Große Teile des äquatorialen und südlichen Afrikas sind unerforscht. Der Tanganjikasee ist kaum umrissen, aber der Viktoriasee fehlt: beide wurden erstmals 1858 beschrieben. Der südwestliche Teil der Vereinigten Staaten ist ebenfalls noch unbeschrieben. A rare and beautifully illustrated early nineteenth century pedagogical game produced inNuremberg by Johann Georg Klinger. A famed globemaker and prolific cartographic publisher, Klinger is not generally recognised as a maker of children's games. However, he published at least four editions of this versatile geographical game (1801; 1807; 1811; 1813). Klinger's ingenious design concept meant that the game could be played in three entirely different ways, as set out in the rules sheet. Its appeal was therefore broad and spanned different age groups, with more advanced children being able to play the most sophisticated game, one that demanded strategic planning of trade and commerce around the globe. Versions in French and German were produced for each edition. (The German title is Reisen in die V Erdtheile.
