Both volumes bound together in contemporary vellum, very clean, title of first volume only on spine in ms. The first work, published by Elzevier, is Willems 536. Both works are by the eminent French Protestant theologian, Jean Daille (1594-1670), the first being a Latin translation by Daille himself of his 'De la Creance des Peres sur le Fait des Images' which was printed in Geneva in 1641. Provenance: E Heron-Allen with his book label inside the front board [E. Heron-Allen was an important collector of Elzevier Editions], overlaying a label of Jacobi Brovn Craven, Kirkvallensis [James Brown Craven (1850-1924), the influential antiquarian scholar and ecclesiastical historian and Rector of St Olaf's Episcopal Church in Kirkwall, Scotland.
