Este libro no se limita a una exposición superficial o devo…cional, sino que procura ofrecer una lectura estructurada y doctrinal, apoyada en textos canónicos y en la evolución histórica de esta escuela. El eje central del volumen es la figura de Amitābha, el Buda de la Luz Infinita, cuya promesa de salvación —basada en el voto de acoger a los fieles en su "tierra pura" o paraíso occidental— constituye el núcleo teológico de esta tradición. Eracle analiza con claridad el pasaje desde una concepción estrictamente ascética del budismo temprano hacia una vía más accesible, fundada en la confianza (śraddhā) y la invocación del nombre del Buda (nembutsu). Uno de los méritos del texto reside en su capacidad para mostrar que la Tierra Pura no es simplemente un "cielo" en sentido occidental, sino una construcción simbólica y metafísica compleja, donde se articulan elementos cosmológicos, soteriológicos y devocionales. La salvación no es aquí un acto mágico, sino el resultado de una relación entre la gracia de Amitābha y la disposición interior del creyente. Desde el punto de vista editorial, se trata de un libro que suele circular en ediciones accesibles pero con una densidad conceptual notable, lo que lo vuelve especialmente atractivo para lectores con interés en religiones comparadas, filosofía oriental o historia de las doctrinas espirituales. En síntesis, estamos ante un volumen que cumple una doble función: introducción rigurosa para el lector culto y, al mismo tiempo, puerta de entrada a una de las formas más influyentes del budismo vivo, donde la dimensión contemplativa se combina con una fuerte impronta popular y devocional. 140 PÁGINAS.
