20 cm , Softcover / Paperback, Condition: Gut. XVIII, 400 S., Zustand: Exemplar in gutem Zustand, Ränder und / oder Cover etwas berieben. Sprache: Englisch , WERNER PINCUS JASPERT has been a typical twentieth century person. At the tender age of six weeks he started a nomadic rootless life, first in darkest Africa (his paternal grandmother on his return to Europe described him as "a little heathen"). He lived in Germany during the tumultuous years of the rise of Nazi-dom. He was lucky! His parents did not want him to grow up under those influences. He thus lived and went to school in five different countries. His youth gave him an insight into different cultures. Finally he came to England as a privileged, but displaced/displeased person. Some sort of rootlessness made him return to Switzerland and even Germany, then almost commuted -between Britain and Japan and later spent twelve years - also commuting every month to London - in the United States. In between he travelled as a journalist to almost every country in the world - except Mongolia, and the South Pole and some outlandish places - meeting some famous and infamous people. Finally he had a stroke and now lives permanently in London, thriving on the love and care of his children and relatives all over the world. He was married three times. Now he is 84 years old and enjoys working and writing in two languages, as well as reading voraciously and watching people, vociferously expressing his own views. 16535A ISBN 9780956873606 Sprache: Englisch Gewicht in Gramm: 530.

Hardcover. Condition: Good. Inside front flap is corner-clipped, otherwise dust jacket is fully intact, only lightly rubbed at edges. Text clean and unmarked, though slightly weathered with age. A presentable used copy with no significant defects. Publisher's note: For nearly half a century the Encyclopaedia of Type Faces has been the standard desktop reference work for all those in any way concerned with type faces, their designers and their sources. It contains the widest possible selection of faces - nearly 2,000 - including those most likely to be of practical use with those of historical importance. After a short introduction with notes on type face classification and a glossary of the technical terms, the faces are arranged alphabetically under three main sections - Romans, Lineales and Scripts - for easy reference. Each entry includes a speciment setting, usually upper and lower case alphabets with fugures; the original founder or manufacturer, with the date of introduction: and, where appropriate, the classification according to British Standard 2961:1967. The faces are indexed by both name and designer. xv, 420 pp. Shipped Weight: 1-2 kilos.
