The binding of black cloth is clean and unworn, with strong gilt lettering to the spine. Everything is sound and tight, with unbumped corners. The contents are clean and br…ight. There is a neat set of initials to the ffep but otherwise there are no ownership inscriptions or other markings of any kind. The dust jacket is unclipped (12/6 net), and shows only moderate edgewear and slight chipping. It has a paper clip rust mark to the top of the front flap. As a bonus this copy retains the wraparound band which contains a postcard which the purchaser was supposed to send to Churchill in celebration of his birthday. The wraparound is complete although it has separated along some of the perforations. Everything is now protected in a removable mylar cover. A compilation of tributes from eighteen of Churchill's contemporaries, timed to celebrate his 80th birthday.
