Taschenbuch. Condition: Neu. Neuware - 'Dutch Architecture of the XXTH Century' presents a comprehensive survey of the transformative architectural movements that emerged in the Netherlands during the early decades of the 1900s. Authored by J. P. Mieras and F. R. Yerbury, this work captures a pivotal era when Dutch architects were recognized as global leaders in modern design, successfully bridging the gap between traditional craftsmanship and revolutionary avant-garde principles. The book explores the evolution of various influential styles, from the expressive and decorative forms of the Amsterdam School to the stark functionalism of De Stijl and the nascent International Style. By examining a wide range of civic buildings, experimental housing projects, and industrial structures, the authors illustrate how the Dutch built environment became a laboratory for social and aesthetic innovation. This volume serves as a vital historical record of the architects who reshaped the urban landscape of the Netherlands, offering profound insights into the cultural and technical shifts that defined 20th-century modernism. It remains an essential resource for architectural historians, designers, and anyone interested in the legacy of European urban development. This work has been selected by scholars as being culturally important, and is part of the knowledge base of civilization as we know it.
