Jahrhunderts der Zeit von Carl Spitzweg und Eduard Schleich d. Ã. Neben den in München üblichen Ansichten der Alpenwelt und des Vora…lpenlandes besteht seine Oeuvre aus Motiven von Spanien, England, Frankreich, Italien und von der Nord- und Ostsee. Was seine Spanienbilder betreffen, gehà rt er zu den bedeutendsten deutschen Malern spanischer Landschaften. Die Besonderheit der Gemälde Bambergers ist das Kolorit. Seine Bilder wurden wegen der schà nen Ausleuchtung und der stimmungsvollen Schilderung von Himmel und Wolken geschätzt. Im Verlauf seiner Entwicklung gelangte Fritz Bamberger zu immer intensiveren Farbgebung und extremen Beleuchtungen, welche die zeitgenà ssische Kunstkritik am Ende ablehnte. Das Leben Fritz Bambergers war bestimmt von häufigen Ortswechseln und einer ausgiebigen Reisetätigkeit. Seine Ausbildung erhielt der Künstler in Berlin, in seiner Geburtsstadt Würzburg, in Kassel und München. Ab Mitte der dreiÃiger Jahre des 19. Jahrhunderts hielt er sich überwiegend in Frankfurt am Main auf. Dort bekam er bald Aufträge und verkaufte seine ersten eigenständigen Arbeiten. Sein durchschlagender künstlerischer Erfolg setzte nach seiner ersten Spanienreise 1849-1850 ein. Fritz Bamberger übersiedelte nach München und erwarb sich mit Hilfe des dortigen Kunstvereins schnell einen guten Ruf. Seine Bilder wurden unter anderem vom bayerischen und württembergischen Kà nigshaus und anderen Adelshäusern erworben. Zu seinen Auftraggebern zählten auch die Kunstkenner Graf Charles Tascher de la Pagerie in Paris und Graf Adolf von Schack in München. Innerhalb des Münchner Kunstvereins wurde Bamberger immer wieder mit verschiedenen Ãmtern betraut. An der Organisation und Ausrichtung der groÃen deutschen Kunstausstellung 1854 im neu errichteten Glaspalast in München war Fritz Bamberger maÃgeblich beteiligt. Gegen Ende seines Lebens wurde der Künstler mit zahlreichen Auszeichnungen geehrt. Wegen seiner Verdienste um die Münchner Landschaftsmalerei ernannte ihn Ludwig II. zum kà niglichen Professor und Ehrenmitglied der Münchner Akademie der Künste.
