The Biblioteca del Niño Mexicano ("Library of the Mexican Child") is a series of educational brochures dedicated to the dissemination of episodes of Mexican national history. The texts were written by the Mexican journalist and novelist Heriberto Frías (1870-1925). The publisher (the publishing house Maucci Hermanos, based in Barcelona) commissioned the famous Mexican engraver José Guadalupe Posada (1851-1913) for the illustrations, who made the covers with the innovative technique of chromolithography, (in addition to adding three illustrations inside), being the unique time that Posada uses this technique. The complete original series consists of 110 booklets of 16 pages.They recount various historical episodes for children, from pre-Hispanic times to the end of the 19th century, divided into five series.
