A limited edition reprint of 325 copies (an initial 200 followed by a further 125). 568pp including an index. The publisher explains that he took the decision to reprint this title based on the fact that in a 2002 poll of the greatest Britons, Brunel came second after Winston Churchill and yet there is very little in detail about his life. There is the biography by LTC Rolt from 1957 and David & Charles did reprint this biography penned by his son Isambard Brunel in 1971. The book was also reprinted in paperback in 2006 subsequent to this edition by Nonsuch Publishing and I notice some sellers claim IK Brunel as the author rather than I Brunel, his son.17 chapters, two appendices, excerpts from 85 reports or other documents. Five plates which were in the original are not reproduced within this reprint but the engraved frontispiece of Brunel senior is reproduced on the back cover. 22 woodcuts within the text are reproduced.
