In the Preface to that book, Mackinney acknowledges the contribution of Herndon: "In the final processing of the manuscript, typescript and photoreproductions we have been ably assisted by Mr. Thomas Herndon, who also had much to do with solving earlier paleographical, iconographical and linguistic problems, as well as with the arduous task of checking references, reading proofs, and the like.".
