Hardcover. Condition: Very Good+. 118 Pages. No dust jacket. Translated and adapted by Harold John Massingham. This five act play is about the life and spiritual journey of St. Francis and focuses on his devotion to God, love for nature, and commitment to poverty. The book's exterior has a worn area at the top of its spine, a worn spot on the front cover's bottom edge and some soiling on the front and rear covers. The interior book's only detriment is some darkening on the first page in from the front cover (probably from the old newspaper clipping that is there). Outside of that there are no further visible extraneous markings, distractions or other detriments throughout the book and hence all of its printing remains in a well preserved condition and the book's bindings remain tight and therefore would be sound. If you order this interesting play about the life of St. Francis from us, we will carefully wrap it up in either foam or bubble wrap, then pad and box it and mail it right away to you with both insurance and tracking on it.…

Paperback. Condition: New. Print on Demand. This book recounts the life of St. Francis of Assisi, a wealthy young Italian who renounced his lavish lifestyle for a life of religious poverty in the early 13th century. The author depicts Francis's spiritual journey, from the moment he heard the voice of God, through his struggles with worldly temptations, to his eventual sainthood. Through Francis's story, the book explores the central paradox of the Christian faith: that true renunciation leads to lasting freedom, and true humility leads to lasting glory. The author places Francis's life and work within the broader context of the medieval Church, and demonstrates how his preaching of poverty, itinerant lifestyle, and love of nature inspired a vast popular following known as the Franciscan movement, which flourishes to this day. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format.
