Add to basketSoft cover. Condition: Very Good. Original staple-bound wraps 17x24cm, with a colour photo of the Kaaba to the front, and description of Islamic Awareness Magazine to the back. Printed by the Fahad Al Marzouq Printing Press, Kuwait. 73pp Arabic text illustrated in b/w. Wraps very good with some tearing around the staple, interio…rs near fine, lightly tanned. The Ministry launched its monthly Islamic Awareness Magazine (Al-Waei Al-Islami, "the Caravan of Authentic Arab Islamic Culture") in 1965 to promote knowledge of Islam in a way that transcended sect and politics. Certain issues were accompanied by booklets such as this, providing more detailed and timely practical information (the previous issue for example came with a booklet on Ramadan). With the 1968 Hajj due to begin on 7 March, Minister Abdullah Al-Mishari al-Roudhan informs in his opening statement dated Jan 1968 that this was prepared to guide Kuwaiti pilgrims in the performance of Hajj and Umrah, and ensure their comfort. He notes that this year's Hajj is marked by sorrow at the occupation of Al Aqsa Mosque during the Six Day War. The main text describes the history, rituals and timetable of Hajj and Umrah in line with the 4 Schools. The illustrations include 5 plans and models of the Kuwaiti Hajj "Cities" at Mecca and Medina and associated Kuwaiti Mission buildings, a map showing the route from Mecca to Arafat, and photos showing various locations and rituals. This appears to be very rare.
