If you really want the skinny on Cafe Society between the wars, Beebe is the ultimate source. Not to be missed are his all too brief scathing "reviews" of a Gertrude Stein play and Salvador Dali's later works. Beebe admits he didn't coin the phrase, but he was Cafe Society personified, and don't be fooled by wannabe wankers such as Walter Winchell. Lucius Morris Beebe (December 9, 1902 February 4, 1966) was an American author, gourmand, photographer, railroad historian, journalist, and syndicated columnist. EB; 8vo 8" - 9" tall.
