One dime sized worn spot on rear cover not affecting lettering. Paper missing from spine. 169 year old text, plates very clean, very little foxing, nothing dark nor heavy. Hinges tight, string binding tight. Corners very good. A remarkable copy, very good. A note as to edition. Unlike this edition, the third edition has the engravings signed by E. Purcell, and lists twenty titles just published on the rear, not 12. So I presume that this is the first or second American. The few references I have seen may be simply counting the British first as THE first and this the second overall.
