Apparently scarce, especially in first edition form as this appears to be. 252 full page drawings from Punch by John Leech, in chronological order dating from 1851-1861, with short notes from Lemon in the bottom margin. Half title, portrait frontispiece of Leech with a facsimile signature, contents list. Publisher's red blindstamped and gilt lettered cloth, rather stained. Unfortunately there is a water stain which goes almost right through the book, affecting the top corner of all the plates, some hardly at all, most slightly, a few badly (please see images for best and worst). Possibly this stain is what has saved the book from being broken up for plates.

Internally Very Good, with one small instance of ink marking to list of illustrations, where former owner felt it prudent to correct a typographic error, a newspaper clipping tipped-in, and two negligible instances of a faulty printing job, where the print has slightly smudged. With 17 original hand-colored steel engravings by John Leech, which are all bright and lovely, and numerous wood-engravings. An attractive copy, nicely rebound. [+].
