Dit verhindert dat kennis resulteert in expertise of deskundigheid. Het verplicht archivarissen, onderzoekers of studenten om hun vakkennis telkens vanaf nul op te bouwen. nDe publicatiestrategie van Het CVAa wil hierin verbetering brengen. Het wil de wetenschap over architectuurarchieven verzamelen, verdiepen en verspreiden in functie van een bredere doelstelling: het opbouwen van expertise over het architecturale erfgoed. nnDeze eerste handleiding in de archieftechnische reeks is bedoeld als een inleiding voor allen die op een of andere wijze met architectuurarchieven te maken hebben, van archiefeigenaars en -beheerders tot archivarissen en archiefgebruikers. De aandacht gaat in deze handleiding in eerste instantie uit naar de inventarisatie van een architectuurarchief. De verschillende stappen worden toegelicht aan de hand van twee praktijkvoorbeelden, gebaseerd op de verwerking van twee proefarchieven - de persoonsarchieven van architect Huib Hoste(1881-1957) en van hoogleraar en internationaal vermaard expert inzake monumentenzorg Raymond M. Lemaire (1921-1997) - die bewaard worden in het Universiteitsarchief van de Katholieke Universiteit Leuven. Een archiefschema maakt integraal deel uit van de handleiding.nnEen goede inventarisatie is van cruciaal belang voor een goede bewaring en beschikbaarstelling. Het inventariseren van een archief is in eerste instantie de taak van de archivaris, maar ook de archiefgebruiker heeft er alle belang bij te weten hoe een archief wordt geordend en beschreven, hoe een inventaris in elkaar zit. Selectie en bewaring en komen eveneens kort aan bod. Het is evenwel de bedoeling dat hieraan in vervolgpublicaties uitgebreider aandacht besteed wordt, met het oog op een CVAa-archiefreeks.nnDeze handleiding is het resultaat van een FWO-onderzoeksproject dat werd uitgevoerd aan de KULeuven onder promotorschap van prof. Luc Verpoest, door Veerle De Houwer en Ellen Van Impe. Het CVAa - Tom Avermaete, Annelies Nevejans en Bregje Provo - nam de eindredactie en de uitgave van de van de handleiding architectuurarchieven: inventarisatie op zich. 450 g.
