This is the clothbound issue made up from the first nine parts of "Book Handbook", a book collecting journal published between 1947 and 1952 which was then incorporated into the longer-lasting Book Collector. It described its aim: "Our plan is to give information on interesting points about books, about their authors, printers, or publishers, and about their previous possessors. This will lead us to include within our purview bookplates and handwriting, autograph letters, historical documents, armorial and other bindings, illustrations, and so forth. The articles and bibliographies to be published . . , are contributed by librarians and experts of the highest standing, but we hope that from time to time owners will favor us with descriptions .
