This is the clothbound issue made up from the first nine parts of "Book Handbook", a book collecting journal published between 1947 and 1952 which was then incorporated into the longer-lasting Book Collector. It described its aim: "Our plan is to give information on interesting points about books, about their authors, printers, or publishers, and about their previous possessors. This will lead us to include within our purview bookplates and handwriting, autograph letters, historical documents, armorial and other bindings, illustrations, and so forth.
