The author takes readers into the life of this remarkable man, from his humble beginnings to his rise as a prominent landowner and political figure. As the nation descended into the abyss of civil war, Wadsworth's loyalty to the Union never wavered. He left behind his comfortable life to fight for what he believed in, displaying indomitable courage and leadership on the battlefield. We witness his unwavering resolve at Bull Run, his strategic contributions at Gettysburg, and his tragic end at the Battle of the Wilderness. Beyond the captivating narrative, the author explores the broader context of the Civil War, shedding light on the political divisions and social tensions that tore the nation apart. Wadsworth's story serves as a poignant reminder of the sacrifices made by countless individuals during this tumultuous period. Some pictures include excerpted lines from the text handwritten below. However, no references were found for Oliver as a successful artist of the time.
