Vintage press kit for Academy screenings of the 1988 film. Kit includes a 31 page press booklet, twelve black and white studio still photographs in their original glassine envelope, twelve clippings of "For Your Consideration" ads for the film, two ad clippings and an article clipping for the film, two copies of "Photo Captions for Color Slides," presumably for the screenings, and a Cineplex Odeon Films January Academy Screening Schedule bi-fold, all housed in a color Cineplex Odeon Films folder. Laid in is a bi-fold for the 1988 Robert Altman television film, "The Caine Mutiny Court-Martial," starring Eric Bogosian, housing two clippings of articles and a promotional photograph of the cast. Based on the 1987 Pulitzer Prize nominated play by Eric Bogosian and Tad Savinar, and the 1987 book "Talked to Death: The Life and Murder of Alan Berg" by Stephen Singular. Bogosian stars as the acerbic Jewish radio talk show host Barry Champlain, who, as his show is about to go nationwide, must confront his distrust of the network management, his dysfunctional relationship with his wife, and the increasingly threatening neo-nazis angered by his outspoken opinions. One of director Oliver Stone's more modest and affecting films. Set in and shot on location in Dallas, Texas. Folder and contents, Near Fine.
Ephemera. Three letters from the noted Australian poet A. D. Hope, OBE, to a Miss G. Williams, relating to arrangements for events in New York City. Williams worked for the Poetry Center at the 92nd Street YMCA, a celebrated if unexpected literary venue. *** This small archive consists of 1) a 4-page autograph letter signed (5 by 8 inches); 2) a one-page letter (5-3/4 by 9 inches), sent from the Poetry Office of the Library of Congress and referring to Bill Smith, probably William Jay Smith, the Poet Laureate of the United States; and 3) a one-page typed letter signed with a holograph postscript (8-1/4 by 13-1/4 inches). *** The typed letter is dated 12 May 1967. The other letters are probably from early 1968, although the exact date is uncertain. Letters folded for mailing, but generally very good. All three are signed 'Alec Hope.'.
