Item description from seller

Three letters from the noted Australian poet A. D. Hope, OBE, to a Miss G. Williams, relating to arrangements for events in New York City. Williams worked for the Poetry Center at the 92nd Street YMCA, a celebrated if unexpected literary venue. *** This small archive consists of 1) a 4-page autograph letter signed (5 by 8 inches); 2) a one-page letter (5-3/4 by 9 inches), sent from the Poetry Office of the Library of Congress and referring to Bill Smith, probably William Jay Smith, the Poet Laureate of the United States; and 3) a one-page typed letter signed with a holograph postscript (8-1/4 by 13-1/4 inches). *** The typed letter is dated 12 May 1967. The other letters are probably from early 1968, although the exact date is uncertain. Letters folded for mailing, but generally very good. All three are signed 'Alec Hope.'.
