Described as a Patriotic Song it is believed to date from the early 1900s. This copy has been signed 'Tree' in Lady Maud Beerbohm Tree's hand. It was sung to great accl…aim by Mr Kennerley Rumford and was a popular addition to his repertoire. Kennerly Rumford enjoyed a successful career as a concert Baritone and was a vocal pupil of George Henschel and Alfred Blume of London. "Bertie", as he was called by his family, was married to Dramatic Contralto Clara Ellen Butt on June 26, 1900 in the Bristol Cathedral amid scenes of spectacular enthusiasm such as that usually reserved for Royalty or State occasions. Bertie died at Brooke Lodge, North Stoke, Oxfordshire. Ref SM2 Size: 9pp.

Illustrated with full color frontispiece and 500 photographic plates, woodcuts and drawings. Bound in publishers black cloth; spine lettering faded, tips ru…bbed. Interior pages show some light overall age toning and foxing, not effecting plates. Pages xi and xiii have a small 1/2" tear at the edge, page 251 wrinkled from incorrect fold and has a slight tear at the edge. Text block sound. A Very Good copy. The Derrydale Press was an American book publishing company founded in 1927 with headquarters on Park Ave. in Manhattan, New York. It was the creation of Princeton University graduate Eugene V. Connett III (1891-1969). He told Time magazine that he got the Derrydale name "from a bottle of whiskey and a map of Ireland." An important publisher of outdoor books for North American audiences during the first half of the 20th century, according to a 1938 Time magazine article, it was the only publishing house in the world devoted exclusively to sporting books. - Wiki.
