Written with the hope that it might enable students of the Bible to gain a geneeral and yet a comprehensive knowledge of the contents of the book. It is… intended largely as a textbook to be used in schools and colleges in connection with the Bible itself, It is arranged to be covered in a year of study in a course of three hours a week througout the college year. The prime purpose is to avoid helps as largely as possible and to send the student immediately to the Bible text. General Outline in Four Parts: Introduction to Bible Study, The Old Testament, Between the Testaments, and The New Testament. Illustrated with Seven Maps: the World of Abraham, The Wildeerness Journey, The settlement in Canaan, the Dominions of David and Solomon, the Divided Kingdom, Palestine in the Time of Christ, and Paul's Missionary Journeys. This is a reading copy with loose hinges and extensive notes, marginal and otherwise, throughout the book, obviously by a student who used it well Both Cannon and Spence were professors at Duke University. The Edications reads To The Students of Duke University 1919-1927 who as faithful students of the English Bible, have enabled the authors to become more effective and consecrated teachers.
