Includes a new afterword by the author in which he discusses the good that hashish and opiates can do when used in their natural state versus the use of them as an escape from reality. Translated from the French by Helen Buchanan Bell (the afterword was translated by Helen Weaver.) 287 pp. Dust jacket art by Ted Bernstein.
