Most plates relatively clean, though many with foxing to edges, finger smudging to most pages. Occasional contemporary marginalia (see below). A Very Good example of a moderately, but not unexpectedly, uncomfortable tome on how to identify and analyze the female form and figure out "is she pretty, really?" "That, independent of any association, blackness is naturally disagreeable, if not painful, is happily determined by the case of the boy restored to sight be Cheselden, who tells us that the first time the boy saw a black object, it gave him a great uneasiness, and that seeing a negro woman, he was struck with great horror at the sight.
