Cloth shows spotting and minor corner bumps. Textured end pages. First edition thus. The author, Henry C. Badger, passed away in 1894 before the book was finished. His brother , Will…iam Whittlesey Badger, took up the cause and published the book in 1895 as a memorial to his late brother Henry. There is an "In Memoriam" page int the back (page 301) which goes into detail of his brother's death and why he published a book, and is dated Memorial Day, may 30, 1895. On the title page is penned " With kind regards of Wm. W Badger, June 1895". Foxing is present though mainly limited to the end pages, other pages are toned due to age. Original owner's signature is in pencil (Warren Hathaway) is penciled on the front end page as well as the preface page. Exterior page edges show some spotting and dust darkening. Signed by Other.
