Paperback. Condition: New. Print on Demand. This book explores the evolution of Jewish identity and social organization in the 19th and early 20th centuries, focusing on the emergence of the "New Jew" and the Zionist movement. The author argues that the rise of modern science, particularly Darwinism, challenged traditional Jewish beliefs and led to a re-examination of Jewish identity. In response to these challenges, a new generation of Jewish intellectuals and activists emerged, seeking to create a more modern and secular form of Judaism. This movement, known as the "New Jew," played a crucial role in the development of Zionism, a political movement that advocated for the establishment of a Jewish homeland in Palestine. The author examines the complex relationship between the New Jew and the Zionist movement, and argues that both were shaped by the social and intellectual changes of the time. Through a study of historical events, religious doctrine, and social movements, this book offers a fresh perspective on the development of modern Jewish identity and the origins of Zionism, providing valuable insights into the ongoing debates about Jewish culture, religion, and politics. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.
